1. one of the celestial beings hovering above God’s throne in Isaiah’s vision. Isa. 6.
2. a member of the highest order of angels, often represented as a child’s head with wings above, below, and on each side.

Turncoat: a person who changes to the opposite party or faction, reverses principles, etc.; renegade.

Another piece for my turncoat series. I’ve got the bug to draw some fanart again and it was a lot of fun drawing these two. I tried to make them both look cool … though I’m more partial to Gai. Big surprise.

Usually when I get an idea for drawing fanart, I do a search to make sure someone else hasn’t done the concept already. I didn’t really do it with this one, so hopefully it hasn’t been done before.

I’ve had this concept in my head for a while now. A geisha in the steampunk genre, living in a submarine. Not only do you pay for some company, but you get one hell of a ride (and stealthy too — perfect for those shady clientele). 

Technically she is an Oiran, but people are more familiar with the term “geisha” and that’s why I titled it what I did.

I loooove drawing geisha and oiran. Their look can be so exotic and fun to design. 

Funny story, doing commission again, I was reminded of the “breast size chart”. I ask the commissioner what the bust size is of the character: Small/Medium/Large? More often than not, they say, “Hani size” or “Not Hani size”. Hani’s bewbs have become their own measurement. Needless to say, the commissioner wanted Chinatsu’s bust to be “Hani size”. I responded with, “That, I can do.” 

Fun Fact: The ornamental hairpins often seen on geisha and oirans are call “kanzashi”. Though oirans usually wear 6 of them at a given time. And geisha usually wear no more than 4.

My favorite character from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Toph Bei Fong. Cause she is the shiznit.

I decided to not try to make her look cute and pretty — others have done that already (and done it well). I wanted to keep her true to character.

Riza: “Colonel Mustang, I want that promotion. Even if it takes using my feminine wiles!”
Roy: “I think feminine wiles are suppose to be a lot more subtle than this, Lieutenant.”
Riza: “I don’t have time for subtly! I want that promotion now!”
Roy: “D-don’t be rash! I know you’ve been working a lot of over time lately; but that doesn’t give you an excuse to hold your superior officer hostage at gun point … while topless!”
Riza: “I am going to get that promotion, Colonel. Now … *click, click* these breasts aren’t going to suck themselves.”
Roy: “Lieutenant!”  … “Well, if you insist.” 

That was on a continuous loop in my head while working on this. 

Damn, that tattoo was a bitch. But many thanks to  for doing a big picture of it so I could get a good idea of what it looks like ([link]). It was a ‘uge help.

Riza is my favorite character from FMA. I love strong women types.

P.S. Riza’s left arm bothers me … it wasn’t until I submitted it to DA that I noticed it seemed overly long. But when I check my proportion numbers, it’s right. And if I test it out at a shorter length, it still looks off. :\

It’s been a long time since I saw a new character in Naruto and wanted to draw him/her. But as soon as I saw the kimono, I had to draw her.
